Across from Madison Square Garden

About The Rutherford

The Name

The Rutherford pays tribute to William Rutherford Mead, partner at McKim, Mead & White, a gilded architectural firm tasked with the design of Penn Station. The name is our nod to that legacy, and to a stretch of Midtown that still carries his firm’s imprint on the skyline just outside our windows.

The Place

Sitting directly across from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station, The Rutherford honors that architectural history while giving it back to the city that inspired it. This is a rooftop built for New York’s energy — race days, game days, and every night in between.

The Space

Inside, the room merges “timeless elegance with William’s early 20th-century grandeur” — a print-shop palette standing in for the grand civic architecture the Mead firm once built just blocks away.

Host Restaurants

Our Group

Host Restaurants is a hospitality group rooted in storytelling, inspired by our Irish heritage and the lyrical spirit of W.B. Yeats — because hospitality is a craft, and every moment shared at our tables is a story worth telling.
